Tamworth Patients to receive better service

South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust have released details on the new simplified complaints system which is hoped to make it simpler, more effective, quicker and more personal for patients.
The new system which has been in place since April 1 this year has been introduced to ensure that the quality of patient care in the area is at the centre of everything the NHS does locally.
The new system has been designed to ensure that the patient receives the best possible service from the NHS team and gets a quick and personal response. Hopefully increasing the public image of the NHS complaints team.
Yvonne Sawbridge, Director of Quality and Performance said:
“The new system is already improving the support that we give to patients and we have received some positive feedback.
“We now have far more personal contact with the patient or family member who is making the complaint and more authority to work with the healthcare providers, on their behalf. This helps us to effectively confirm the issues and problems and find out what outcome they anticipate.”
If you wish to make a complaint you can contact the South Staffordshire PCT Complaints Team on 01889 571826 or 01889 571810 or email your complaint to complaints@southstaffspct.nhs.uk. Further information is also available on the PCT website by visiting www.southstaffordshirepct.nhs.uk.

Detectives in Tamworth are hunting for two thieves who stole two handbags from two women as they were walking through the streets around Tamworth.
The two separate incidents took place on consecutive days. The first incident happened on Thursday July 2. An elderly woman was walking in Angelica at around 12.30pm when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her bag and ran off towards Woodlands Road. The black handbag contained a small amount of cash and cards. The lady was left with a hand injury that required treatment at the scene by ambulance staff.
The following day a similar incident occurred in the Alfred Street area of Tamworth, near the St Johns Club. At 4pm a woman walking along the footpath was punched by an attacker as he grabbed her bag.
Detective Constable Michael Stretch of Tamworth CID said:
“These were nasty incidents which left two women badly shocked and we would appeal for help from the community to help us catch whoever is responsible,”.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, to contact DC Stretch at Tamworth CID, telephone 0300 123 44 55 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
