Pharmacists in Tamworth have joined forces with the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Services to help protect the elderly and vulnerable.

When a prescription is picked up, patients will receive a free 0800 card urging them to arrange a free home fire risk check.  They simply call the number on the card.

South Staffordshire Area Commander, Steve Pope says:

“Although checks to the elderly and vulnerable are prioritised, the service is open to everyone.  This is a great opportunity for us to reach as many elderly and vulnerable people as possible.  The Service we provide is completely free and friendly and it won’t cost you a penny.”

A home fire risk check involves Firefighters or a Service Technician visiting your home to give fire safety advice and fitting equipment such as smoke alarms to ensure you are as safe as possible in your home.  All Firefighters and Service Technicians carry an I.D card and will travel in Service vehicles.

Richard Dean, Chairman of the Local Pharmaceutical Committee in South Staffordshire says:

“Community pharmacy in South Statffordshire is delighted to offer its resources to this important campaign.”
