Just before 3 p.m. today a male entered the back door to a house in Chestnut Avenue and went into all the rooms of the house. He said he was from the council and was doing a job next door.The 78 year old female occupant could not keep up with him.. Nothing has been found missing but the council know nothing about him. He was a black male, late 20’s early 30’s wearing dark clothing, slim medium height and clean shaven.

If you saw or heard anything that could help the police call 0300 123 4455

Bogus Callers in Tamworth

owlThe following message was posted on OWL Neighbourhood Watch site this morning;

Dear Watch Member,

2 Males posing as Water Board Officials gained entry to a home in Bancroft at about 9:10 a.m. on Friday. The occupant is 80 years old. The offenders were described as: the first male had dark hair and was dark skinned but not black wearing a black top and black jeans, the other male was shorter with grey hair going thin on top, wearing a blue sleeveless jacket with fur inside. They managed to steal around £500 in cash.

Please tell your members not to have such large amounts of money hanging around. Stop (put the chain on) Check who they are and ask for identification. If in doubt keep them out. These 2 had not made an appointment so why let them in?

The Lambs beat Cardiff in friendly

Tamworth FC LogoThe football season is fast approaching and the newly promoted Lambs are getting into the stride with a string of friendlies.

This weekend saw a young Cardiff City team travel to the Lamb for the Lambs fourth friendly this closed season.  Cardiff who are high fliers each season in the Coca Cola Championship, fielded a youthful side who were soundly beat 3-1 by the Lambs who themselves wrung the changes from their previous pre-season matches.

By half time, Tamworth were 2-0 ahead after goals from Sheridan on 13 minutes and 35 minutes after what was described as a lack lustre first half from Cardiff.

The second half, Cardiff came out lively and had pulled the deficit to 1 when Cummings pulled one back for the visitors on 56 minutes.  The remainder of the second half was close , but Hurren sealed the victory for The Lambs on the 90th minute.

You can read the full match report on the Official site.

The countdown is now on to their return to the Blue Square Premier league.  Their next friendly is away at Quorn on Wednesday.
