Moorgate Primary School receives a good Ofsted report
Moorgate Prim
ary School has received a good report from Ofsted, the Government inspectors, seeing it move a grade closer to the best grade (grade 1).
The school which was inspected for two days during March has been awarded a Grade 2, this is a great turn around after the school was placed under special measures for two terms after it’s last government inspection.
The report was glowing about the schools community ethos and the staffs care towards the children and their education. The report said:
“This is a caring school with a strong community ethos.
“Leadership and management are good and steadily improving.
“Staff are trusted, respected and approachable.”
The only offer of advice from the report was to avoid a break in children’s learning by parents taking them out of school for holidays during term time.
Headteacher Gina McKay told the Tamworth Herald:
“We are over the moon with the report.
“Everyone worked very hard and we felt what we had done was in the right direction.”
Rawlett High School get’s 3 Stars in recent inspection
Kitchen Staff at Rawlett High School can be congratulated for their recent award of 3 stars by Lichfield District Council for their food hygiene.
The report which is available though the Rate My Place Website shows that general hygiene standards are being maintained.
The school received some minor marks against it such as having two packs of out of date meat and coleslaw in the fridge and some minor cleaning pointers, but overall the results were positive.
The reviewer stated in his report that:
“I was pleased to note that the standards currently being achieved were generally satisfactory at the time of inspection. However, there are a number of matters which require your attention.”
The full report can be read at the Rate My Place website.
Judges tour Tamworth for this years “In Bloom” competition

Winning Poster - Isabelle Hitchman Age 8
Judges for this years Heart of England in Bloom competition braved the elements last week to take in a tour of Tamworth for this years entry into the competition. Organisers of this years Tamworth in Bloom are keen to beat last years silver award.
The Judges tour included the Castle Grounds, Wiggington Park, Tameside Nature Park and the Town Centre on the damp day. During the tour they took in the hard work of pupils from the towns schools who had been hard at work in a Window Box planting competition.
At the end of the tour the Judges were treated to a lunch at Tamworth Council where they were joined by the pupils who took part in the competition and local businesses who had supported the Tamworth in Bloom entry.
Councillor John Garner who is head of the Tamworth in Bloom organising commitee presented the school children with certificates for their assistance. He also presented 8 year old Isabelle Hitchman of Stonydelph Primary School a special award for her winning Tamworth in Bloom logo.
Organisers will find out the results in September.
