Marmion House, Tamworth Borough Council
A consultation into the future of Tamworth has been approved by the towns councillors.
Tamworth is the 2nd largest town in Staffordshire only beaten by Stoke-on-Trent and needs new homes, jobs, offices, leisure facilities and shops to serve residents, workers and visitors in the future.
The research being carried out during the public consultation will lead to the formation of the core strategy that will deliver what is needed in Tamworth.
Earlier in the year there was a consultation that led to the Draft Spatial Strategy, which set out the issues facing the Borough. Including site allocations and policies, aimed at achieving an attractive, healthy, sustainable and prosperous town by 2026.
Councillor Jeremy Oates, Portfolio holder for Economic Development and Enterprise said:
“We want to know what you think about the developments we have proposed and to do this the Council is consulting on the Draft Spatial Strategy.
“The Council is required by Government to produce a Strategy for the Borough, which identifies the key strategies and policies for the future development for the Borough as well as an overall vision. Much of the development will be driven by the need to meet demand for additional housing and employment centres across the borough. Throughout the consultation period we will be holding permanent exhibitions in the Customer Service Area of Marmion House and Tamworth Library. A road show will also be touring the Borough where you will be able to view the proposals and talk to a member of the team.”
The public consultation will take place from Friday October 2 through Tuesday November 13. If you want to have a say in Tamworth’s future, you can take part in the consultation at the venues below:
All events run from 3pm to 7pm unless otherwise stated above. You can also have your say on the Tamworth Borough Council website. You can also find out more information by calling the Development plan team on 01827 709279, 709278 or 709384.
