Tamworth Movie Makers Document Athlete’s Star’s Journey in Veterans Footsteps
Two Tamworth Movie makers have helped Joel Pott of Rock Band Athlete document his and his fathers journey, following in the footsteps of his Grandfather, John Pott who will be celebrated at this years Remembrance services in London.
Richard Edkins and Karen Bristoll from Glascote followed Joel and his father with their cameras as they retraced John Pott’s footsteps to the Battle of Arnhem. John was part of the company who were massively outnumbered when they reached Liechtenbeek Hill, 3 miles west of Arnhem, but his company had suffered massive losses. John Pott was serverly injured when the Germans over run the 6 remaining troops and left for dead. He lay there for 20 hours before being saved by the Dutch. He was then captured by the Germans, before escaping on crutches and being caught again. He then spent the remainder of the war in a Prisoner of War camp.
The documentary maps their emotional trip following in the veterans footsteps and is in support of Athelte’s new single, Black Swan Song which will be sung live before the remembrance services in Trafalgar Square on Sunday November 8. The song is released on Monday November 9 with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

Tamworth Residents urged to partake in 3D fun on Channel 4
Tamworth residents will be able to take part in Channel 4’s 3D week which runs from Monday November 16, by grabbing their FREE 3D glasses from Sainsbury’s Tamworth at Ventura Park.
3D has a long and colourful history. From a 19th century craze to the 3D movies of the 50s when it was developed to fight off competition from television and from the 1980s revival that saw Jaws 3D packing out cinemas to the cutting-edge 3D technology of today.
In a dedicated week Channel 4 invites viewers to put on their 3D specs and celebrate 3D on TV.
A spokesperson said:
”We’re not talking state of the art IMAX technology here, but some good old fashioned fun. From unseen footage of The Queen in her coronation year to Derren Brown and movies, Channel 4 will be offering viewers another dimension across seven days of classic and original programming”.
You can get your FREE pair of 3d glassess from Sainsburys in Tamworth during their usual opening times.
