St Edithas Christmas Tree Festival

Entrant to last years competition
Christmas is fast approaching and in the run up to the festive season the annual St Editha’s Christmas Tree Festival takes place between November 20 and November 30.
Organisers are asking for any last minute entrants to the competition come forward. Entrance to the festival is £10 per space and £6.50 for each tree. The event is open to all appropriate designs and the build up takes place on November 18 and 19. All proceeds go to St Edithas Church Funds.
If you would like to take part in this years event Mary 01827 64422 or Paul on 01827 316600 and we would be happy to discuss your requirements.
The trees themselves are purchased locally from Canwell Farm and are decorated by a variety of local businesses, groups and individuals. The trees then adorn St Edithas Church, last year promoting over 50 local groups and causes in the town. Prizes were awarded to the winners based on the votes which can be purchased for a £1 each by visitors to the Festival.
At the end of the Festival, the trees can be taken by the organisation who decorated it or left. In the event of a tree being left (like 21 last year), they become part of a display in the Garden at Bottom Lock Cottage on the Coventry Canal in Glascote for all to view from the towpath.
That wasn’t the end though of their usefulness, Twycross Zoo took them for their monkeys to play with. The same will happen this year, providing a late Christmas present to the monkeys at the Zoo,
